Solar Energy International provides International Trainings since 1991
If you want to know about solar energy, photovoltaics panels, inverters, junction boxes and grid connections, here is a solution for you: “An online solar training program”. You can learn about sustainable practices and promote a more sustainable way of life.
Although there are many organizations to teach you more about solar, we think the one by Solar Energy International is a particularly good one. The non-profit educational organization offers a series of courses and workshops related to solar training. Created in 1991, SEI mission is to teaching sustainable practices to people all around the world.
Why should you learn at Solar Energy International?
First of all, the organisation has partnerships with grassroots and development organisations around the world. Together, this alliance promotes sustainability and improves quality of life. The need to build a better world doesn’t stop at the classroom: the organisation promotes campaigns in schools, universities and communities to show how important is to invest on solar. Secondly, Solar Energy International places a lot of emphasis on certified instructors and experienced trainers.
So, are you ready to learn how solar works?
The Solar Energy International believes that the best way to teach is through case studies and examples. Typically, a course lasts 6 weeks and includes webinars, online forums and discussions, live instructors explain the details of what you need to know about solar.
You can also interact with other participants. Any doubts and questions can be addressed to the live instructors on the forum discussion boards or by email. Besides that, the trainers give feedback whenever they need to and grade your work at the end.
The participant can login at any time from any computer with an internet connection. Don’t worry: there are no schedules. You don’t need to be on the online platform at a specific hour: the course allows you to determine your own study rhythm. The only requirement is that you finish all graded materials by the end date of the course.
Choose your solar training course
SEI offers different solar training programs based on your requirements.
Introduction to renewable energy: Here, you can learn the basics of renewables: wind power, solar power, biomass power and hydro power. How do they work, what can they deliver? This course is free!
Solar thermal training: Here, you can learn how to design, install and maintain a solar domestic hot water system. This includes: passive solar water heaters, drainback systems, antifreeze systems, and photovoltaic powered systems.
Solar training (grid-connected): Here, you can learn the fundamental concepts required for safe, code-compliant design and installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems, with a focus on residential-sized grid-direct solar electric systems. There is even a special focus course for women with female instructors!
Appropriate technology for the developing world: Here, you can learn about the different technologies used in development projects to improve the quality of peoples’ lives and help eliminate poverty (energy access). The focus is on how distributed, off-grid energy generation can help provide water and sanitation, support food processing and cooking, as well as lighting and cooling solutions.
Solar training (battery based systems): Here, you can learn how battery-based PV systems work, including purpose, applications, and design criteria for different types of charge controllers, batteries, and battery-based inverters. This is quite interesting for all markets where power supply is erratic or where power costs are so high that battery storage of solar power makes commercial sense.
After the course end-date, you will have 2 more weeks to review all the contents of the course. During this time you will not be able to complete any graded activities.
