NISE – NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SOLAR ENERGY

The National Institute of Solar Energy (formerly Solar Energy Centre) was established by MNRE in 1982. It is a dedicated unit of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India for development of solar energy technologies and its related science and engineering. To achieve its objective, NISE has been working on various aspects of solar resource utilization and technology development in collaboration with other research institutions, implementing agencies and industry. NCPRE – NATIONAL CENTRE FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC RESEARCH AND EDUCATION

The National Centre for Photovoltaic Research and Education (NCPRE) at IIT Bombay was launched in 2010 and is a part of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission of the Government of India. The objective of the centre is to be the one of the leading PhotoVoltaic (PV) research and education centres in the world within the next decade. NCPRE aims to create and execute the blueprint for human resource development for PV in India. The centre envisages basic and applied research activities, including silicon solar cell fabrication, energy storage, novel PV structures and development of power electronic interfaces for solar PV systems. The goal is to make solar PV a cost-effective and relevant technology for meeting a significant part of the energy needs of India.
